This policy governs borrowing and using library materials. By applying for a library card, the patron agrees to abide by all library policy and procedures.
Eligible Borrowers
- Residents of the library district.
- Residents of the area included within the Northeast Kansas Library System (NEKLS).
Patrons under the age of 16 must have signed permission from a parent or guardian.
A valid library card or other acceptable form of identification must be presented to borrow materials.
Loan Period
- Reference materials do not circulate.
- Holds may be placed on any circulating materials, except for the Walk-in Collection.
- Basehor Library maintains a Walk-in Collection of new materials that are available only to patrons who visit the library in person.
- DVDs circulate for 7 days.
- Up to 2 renewals allowed
- All other materials circulate for 14 days
- Up to 2 renewals allowed unless another patron has placed a hold on the item
Fees
- Replacement cost for lost, damaged, or non-returned materials at list price
- Replacement cost for lost card $1.00
A patron’s borrowing privileges will be suspended when:
- An item is overdue for 35 days
- The patron’s account has been charged a replacement fee of over $10 for an item that has been lost or damaged.
Long Overdue / Lost Items
- Any item overdue for 90 days will be considered lost and the patron will be charged replacement cost.
Return of materials, or payment for lost materials and fees will result in the restoration of borrowing privileges.
